What you can ask MirrorCut

MirrorCut's agent edits from plain words. These are the 30 things it can do today, each with something to type (or where to find it in the editor). Every change it makes lands on the timeline, outlined and explained, for you to accept or revert.

Clean up the recording

The slow part of every edit, done as reviewable changes across picture, sound and captions at once.

  • See how much dead air there is first

Get a count of pauses and filler words, how much time they add up to and where they are, before anything is cut.

“How much dead air and how many ums are in this?”

  • Remove dead air and filler words

Long pauses are tightened to a natural length and “ums” and “uhs” are cut, across every track in sync, as one change you can accept or revert.

“Remove the dead air and the filler words”

  • Cut tangents, retakes and false starts

Remove any stretch of the recording; picture, sound, captions and markers close up together so nothing drifts.

“Cut the false start at the beginning and the tangent about pricing”

  • Turn voices, music or effects up or down

Change the volume of the dialogue, the music, the sound effects or particular clips.

“Make the music quieter under the voices”

Plan and build the edit

From raw files to a structured first cut.

  • Plan the whole edit

The agent watches the cut, maps its sections, people, numbers and moments, works out what kind of video it is, and proposes three ways to edit it for you to choose from.

“Plan the edit for this video”

  • Build a cut from your best moments

Pick the strongest moments from one or several recordings and lay them end to end as a new cut.

“Make a 60-second highlight reel from the best answers”

  • Research how videos like yours are edited now

A live web search into how videos of your kind are being edited on a given platform, with every finding linked to its source.

“How are founder ads on Instagram being edited right now?”

  • Add chapters, highlights and notes

Markers on the ruler for chapters, scored highlights and notes to yourself.

“Add chapter markers at each topic change”

  • Cut away to other footage

Show another shot or a still over the speaker while they keep talking underneath.

“Cut away to the product demo while I describe the dashboard”

Captions

Generated from the speech and tied to it, so they survive every cut.

  • Caption every word in one of 48 styles

Animated, word-by-word captions in eight families, from clean subtitles to bold hero words, placed and sized for the format.

“Add word-by-word captions in a bold style”

    More on this →
  • Change the caption look, keep the words

Switch every caption to another style without retyping or re-timing anything.

“Switch the captions to a cleaner style”

  • Hindi in Hinglish or Devanagari

Hindi speech is captioned in Hinglish by default; switch to Devanagari or back whenever you like.

“Show the Hindi captions in Devanagari”

  • Download caption files

Export the captions of the current edit as SRT or VTT for YouTube, course platforms or any player.

In the editor: Export → Captions (.srt or .vtt)

Motion graphics and type

Animated graphics placed for you, kept clear of faces and captions.

  • Add graphics from over 200 templates

Lower thirds, titles, stats, quotes, chapters, lists, charts, maps, end cards and more, with the text written from what's said.

“Add a lower third with the guest's name and title”

  • Design a custom motion graphic

Describe a graphic that isn't in the library and it's designed and animated for this video.

“Design an animated graphic showing the three steps of our onboarding”

  • Restyle every graphic at once

Give all the graphics one palette: a named palette, your brand colours or custom ones.

“Use our brand colours for all the graphics”

  • Change the typography in plain words

Say how the type should feel and the titles and graphics follow.

    “Make the titles more elegant”

  • Save your own style from a reference

Show frames from a video whose style you like and MirrorCut keeps it as your own style for future edits.

“Make a style from these reference frames”

Colour

Correction first, then a look, each as one reviewable change.

  • Colour-correct the footage

True white balance with natural skin, proper black and white levels, contrast for flat footage and a lift for a backlit face.

    “Colour-correct this footage”

  • Apply a look

Natural, clean, warm, cinematic, vibrant and more, on top of each camera's correction.

“Give it a warm cinematic look”

  • Match a reference

Make the video's colour look like an image or video you upload.

“Make it look like this reference”

  • Footage shot in log

Apple Log (iPhone 15 Pro and later) and Sony S-Log3 footage is converted properly once you confirm it.

“This was shot in Apple Log”

Formats and cameras

One edit, every placement.

  • Reframe to 16:9, 9:16, 1:1 or 4:5

Footage fills the new frame on its focus point, and captions, logos and graphics are laid out again for the format.

“Reframe this to 9:16 and keep the speaker centred”

    More on this →
  • Switch to whoever is speaking

With a camera file per person, the picture cuts to the speaker on each change of voice.

“Switch cameras to whoever is speaking”

  • Cut Shorts from a long recording

The strongest moments become vertical Shorts, each opening as its own editable timeline.

“Find the five strongest moments and cut each into a Short”

    More on this →
  • Export MP4 up to 4K

Render the finished video at 720p, 1080p or 4K.

In the editor: Export → MP4 video

B-roll, music and sound

Real, licensed media first; generated media when you ask for it.

  • Find real stock B-roll

A matching shot from Pexels and Pixabay, then Wikimedia Commons and NASA, placed as a cutaway.

“Add B-roll of a busy coffee shop when I mention customers”

  • Generate B-roll with AI

A new shot made by an AI video model when nothing real fits, using generation credits.

“Generate a shot of a phone screen lighting up with notifications”

  • Add background music

A track from free, commercially licensed libraries, placed quietly under the voices with fades and ducking. Or ask for music generated with AI.

“Add upbeat background music under the whole video”

  • Add sound effects

Whooshes, pops and hits from free, commercially licensed libraries, or generated with AI when you ask.

“Add a whoosh when each graphic comes in”

Just record. Then ask.
